Patroness of blindness
St. Lucy is known as a brave woman who lost her life during the persecution of Christians in the early fourth century. St. Lucy had a strong devotion to St. Agatha. It is said that St. Agatha came to St. Lucy in a dream and said that St. Lucy’s mother would be cured of her sickness. In some accounts of her life, it is said that St. Lucy wanted to devote her life to the Lord, so she removed her eyes to discourage a persistent suitor however, as she was prepared for burial, her eyes had been miraculously restored.
