Blessed Chiara married her husband in 2008. Early in their marriage she gave birth to two children, both who died within 30 minutes birth. Chiara became pregnant for a third time, with their son. She also received a diagnosis of carcinoma on the tongue. Throughout her pregnancy, she refused any lifesaving treatment due to the risks to her unborn child. Despite difficulty with speaking and seeing as her disease progressed, she and her husband leaned into God’s grace. Chiara died one year after her son’s healthy delivery.
